KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia’s key index finished marginally higher, supported by strong buying interest in consumer-related counters, amid mixed performance across regional markets. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 1.40 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 1,711.39 from Tuesday's close of 1,709.99. The key index opened 12.36 points firmer at 1,722.35 and moved between 1,711.31 and 1,722.63 throughout the session. Market breadth was negative, with losers leading gainers 678 to 493, while 549 counters were unchanged, 1,016 untraded and 34 suspended. Turnover increased to 4.50 billion units worth RM3.45 billion from 3.93 billion units worth RM3.45 billion on Tuesday.
US futures opened with sharp moves among key tech and energy names. Oracle’s blowout cloud results lifted related AI infrastructure stocks, while NIO weighed on sentiment after unveiling a major equity offering.
Gapping Up
Oracle (ORCL.US) jumped 31.5% after securing large contracts and reporting strong growth in its cloud infrastructure revenue. The company guided to $455 billion in booked orders, fueling optimism across AI and data center plays.
CoreWeave (CRWV.US) gained 11.9%, with momentum spilling over from Oracle’s bullish cloud outlook.
Vertiv Holdings (VRT.US) rose 5.1%, Credo Technology (CRDO.US) added 3.9%, and Astera Labs (ALAB.US) advanced 3.8%, all benefiting from cloud infrastructure enthusiasm.
Bloom Energy (BE.US) surged 7.8% on news of international clean energy orders worth Rs. 386.06 crore.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US) climbed 4.2%, buoyed by optimism that demand for cloud-driven chips will accelerate.
AeroVironment (AVAV.US) rose 3.5% after beating Q1 revenue estimates and raising its full-year guidance.
Gapping Down
QMMM Holdings (QMMM.US) sank 63.7%, retracing a speculative surge of 1,700% after unveiling a $100 million cryptocurrency treasury plan.
iSpecimen (ISPC.US) plunged 32% with no major news catalyst.
Synopsys (SNPS.US) dropped 23.6% after missing Q3 earnings estimates, lowering FY25 guidance, and announcing a 10% workforce reduction by FY26.
BeiGene (ONC.US) declined 11.7% in premarket trade.
NIO Inc (NIO.US) fell 8.3% after announcing a proposed equity offering of 181.8 million Class A shares, raising dilution concerns.
Chewy (CHWY.US) slid 7.7% as higher sales were offset by weaker Q2 profits and $79.1 million in share-based compensation expenses.
