Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Lower On Rising Oil Prices, Elevated Bond Yields

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Thursday, weighed down by moderate selling pressure interspersed with buying activity as renewed hikes in oil prices and elevated global bond yields dampened investor sentiment, said an analyst. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 4.12 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 1,672.31, from Wednesday’s close of 1,676.43. The benchmark index, which opened 1.98 points lower at 1,674.45, moved between 1,671.48 and 1,679.47 during the day. Market breadth was also negative, with losers outpacing gainers 677 to 436, while 542 counters were unchanged, 1,246 untraded and 27 suspended. Turnover widened to 3.32 billion units worth RM2.74 billion from 3.20 billion units valued at RM2.99 billion on Wednesday.

Daily Market Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Higher Ahead of Trump-Xi Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia finished trading higher on Tuesday, supported by continued bargain hunting following the recent heavy sell-off, in line with regional and global market performance as investors awaited the meeting between United States President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Washington later this week. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 16.56 points, or 0.99 per cent, to 1,683.50, from Monday’s close of 1,666.94.  The benchmark index opened 2.80 points higher at 1,669.74 and moved between 1,665.23 and 1,684.34 throughout the session. Market breadth was positive with gainers surpassing losers 678 to 458. A total of 572 counters were unchanged, 1,165 untraded and 11 suspended. Turnover improved to 3.57 billion units worth RM3.15 billion, from 2.93 billion units valued at RM2.49 billion on Monday.

Market Daily Report: FBM KLCI Ends Lower As Investors Shift Focus To Smaller-cap Stocks

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia’s main index closed lower on Friday after a choppy session, while buying interest shifted to smaller-cap stocks, particularly technology and construction counters. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 9.18 points, or 0.54 per cent, to 1,665.56, from Thursday’s close of 1,674.74. The benchmark index opened 1.98 points higher at 1,676.72 and moved between 1,661.79 and 1,677.83 throughout the session. Market breadth, however, remained positive, with 625 gainers against 564 decliners. A total of 505 counters were unchanged, 1,172 were untraded, and 22 were suspended. Turnover surged to 4.91 billion units worth RM4.87 billion, from 3.60 billion units valued at RM3.25 billion on Thursday.

Market Daily Report: FBM KLCI Snaps Four-day Losing Streak, Closes At Intraday High

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia’s barometer index closed at an intraday high and snapped a four-day losing streak on Monday, as bargain hunting emerged following recent weakness, with half of the key index components advancing. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ticked up 11.27 points or close 0.66 per cent higher to 1,698.01 from Friday’s close of 1,686.74. The benchmark index opened 0.09 points lower at 1,686.65, fell to an intraday low of 1,682.49 before settling at the intraday high of 1,698.01. Market breadth, however, was negative, with losers beating gainers 764 to 421. A total of 498 counters were unchanged, 1,157 untraded and 26 suspended. Turnover narrowed to 3.18 billion units worth RM2.79 billion, from 3.57 billion units valued at RM3.28 billion on Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia finished lower on Thursday, along with other regional markets, as the widening war in West Asia and high oil prices weighed on sentiment. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 8.82 points, or 0.51 per cent, to 1,705.52 from Wednesday’s close of 1,714.34. The benchmark index opened 1.64 points lower at 1,712.70 and moved between 1,701.68 and 1,713.08 throughout the trading session. Market breadth was also negative, with decliners outnumbering gainers 657 to 532. A total of 515 counters were unchanged, 1,127 untraded, and 21 suspended. Turnover expanded to 3.98 billion units valued at RM3.14 billion from 3.66 billion units valued at RM3.49 billion on Wednesday.

 KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia closed almost flat on Tuesday as buying interest rotated away from index heavyweights towards smaller-cap construction stocks, with sentiment affected by geopolitical uncertainty, said an analyst. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.39 of a point to 1,714.40 from Monday’s close of 1,714.79. The benchmark index opened 1.65 points lower at 1,713.14 and moved between 1,710.44 and 1,714.50 throughout the trading session. The broader market was almost evenly balanced, with decliners leading gainers 548 to 546, while 598 counters were unchanged, 1,107 were untraded and 25 were suspended. Turnover expanded to 4.13 billion units valued at RM3.14 billion from 3.60 billion units valued at RM2.45 billion on Monday.

Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Rises On Buying Interest In Banking, Telco Stocks

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia traded higher on Monday, supported by renewed buying interest in selected banking and telecommunications heavyweights, an analyst said. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.69 points, or 0.39 per cent, to 1,714.79, compared with Friday’s close of 1,708.10. The benchmark index opened 1.60 points higher at 1,709.70 and fluctuated between 1,708.26 and 1,715.29 throughout the trading session. The broader market, however, was negative with losers outpacing gainers 611 to 488, while 580 counters were unchanged, 1,109 untraded and 25 suspended. Turnover declined to 3.60 billion units valued at RM2.45 billion from 4.33 billion units valued at RM2.98 billion on Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended lower on the final trading day of the week, weighed down by the plantation sector as investors locked in gains following its recent strong performance. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 7.03 points 1,708.10, compared with yesterday’s close of 1,715.13. The benchmark index opened 1.39 points lower at 1,713.74 and fluctuated between 1,704.86 and 1,715.20 throughout the day. The broader market was negative with losers outnumbering gainers 568 to 523, while 596 counters were unchanged, 1,085 untraded and 19 suspended. Turnover expanded to 4.33 billion units valued at RM2.98 billion from 3.90 billion units valued at RM3.21 billion on Thursday.
