Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Nearly Flat As Construction Stocks Attract Buying

 KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia closed almost flat on Tuesday as buying interest rotated away from index heavyweights towards smaller-cap construction stocks, with sentiment affected by geopolitical uncertainty, said an analyst. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.39 of a point to 1,714.40 from Monday’s close of 1,714.79. The benchmark index opened 1.65 points lower at 1,713.14 and moved between 1,710.44 and 1,714.50 throughout the trading session. The broader market was almost evenly balanced, with decliners leading gainers 548 to 546, while 598 counters were unchanged, 1,107 were untraded and 25 were suspended. Turnover expanded to 4.13 billion units valued at RM3.14 billion from 3.60 billion units valued at RM2.45 billion on Monday.

Amundi Sees Dip-Buying Opportunity in French Bonds and Equities

  Key Points French government bonds are attracting  dip buyers  after yields spiked on renewed political uncertainty. The  10-year OAT yield  touched 3.55% this week, the highest since March, narrowing the gap with Italian bonds. The  spread vs. German Bunds  briefly widened to 82 bps before easing back to ~79 bps. Amundi CIO Vincent Mortier says spreads are now at levels that “attract marginal buyers,” helping to stabilize the market. Credit Agricole to Acquire 50% Stake in GAC’s Leasing Unit, Partner for European EV Expansion

Credit Agricole has announced plans to purchase a 50% stake in the leasing unit of Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) , marking a significant move in the bank’s strategy to expand in the growing Chinese electric vehicle (EV) market. The deal will be executed through a reserved capital increase by Credit Agricole's Personal Finance & Mobility division , according to a statement released on Tuesday. The French bank’s CA Auto Bank will also become GAC's financial partner , supporting the automaker's EV sales in Europe starting in January 2025 . GAC, one of China’s largest state-owned carmakers, is targeting 500,000 overseas sales by 2030 and plans to introduce an electric SUV specifically designed for the European market. GAC is also exploring local manufacturing in Europe to bypass EU tariffs .
