VentureTECH Sdn Bhd and MTC Orec Sdn Bhd have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the development of biomethane plants across Malaysia, a move that aligns with the nation’s renewable energy and sustainability goals.
In a joint statement, the companies disclosed that VentureTECH’s investment will fund the establishment of biomethane facilities in Peninsular Malaysia’s northern and east coast regions. The collaboration will also include a project with a leading oil and gas player, slated to launch next year.
This partnership is expected to advance Malaysia’s renewable energy aspirations, reduce carbon emissions, and foster sustainable growth while creating significant socio-economic opportunities.
Driving Renewable Energy Innovation
Ahmad Redzuan Sidek, CEO of VentureTECH, emphasized the company’s commitment to environmentally and economically sustainable investments:
“MTC Orec’s expertise in bioenergy and its alignment with Malaysia’s renewable energy goals make it an ideal partner. This collaboration not only supports carbon emission reduction but also promotes renewable energy adoption and opens avenues for local communities and Bumiputera businesses.”
Redzuan also highlighted the potential for job creation and the enhancement of engineering expertise, particularly in rural and underserved areas, through this initiative.
MTC Orec chairman Dr. Norshah Hafeez Shuaib expressed gratitude for the trust VentureTECH has placed in the company’s vision:
“This investment empowers us to expand operations and deliver innovative biomethane solutions while contributing meaningfully to rural development and environmental preservation.”
Scaling Up Biomethane Solutions
MTC Orec, a leader in bioenergy, is known for its cutting-edge work in converting waste into renewable energy. The company’s notable achievements include developing Malaysia’s first palm oil mill effluent (POME)-based biomethane plant that injects biomethane directly into the national gas pipeline.
Building on these successes, MTC Orec plans to expand its operations with four additional bioenergy plants across Johor and the northern regions of Peninsular Malaysia. These projects will address critical environmental issues such as waste management and greenhouse gas emissions, while creating economic opportunities for local communities.
Pioneering Sustainable Energy in Malaysia
The collaboration represents a unified vision between VentureTECH and MTC Orec to foster a sustainable energy landscape in Malaysia. By championing impactful biogas projects, the partnership aims to deliver:
- Environmental Benefits: Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and improved waste management.
- Economic Growth: Job creation and opportunities for local businesses.
- Social Impact: Empowering rural communities with engineering expertise and high-value employment opportunities.
As Malaysia continues its journey toward a greener future, this partnership underscores the importance of aligning technological innovation with national sustainability objectives, promising long-term benefits for the environment, economy, and society.
