Bursa Malaysia's total market capitalisation reached RM1.9 trillion in the first half of 2025, cementing its position as Southeast Asia's top IPO hub. The milestone underscores strong investor confidence and sustained retail participation.
Key Highlights:
Retail strength: Average daily retail trading value held steady at ~RM450 million, similar to pre-pandemic levels.
Perak’s contribution: Over 113,000 active retail investors (8% of the national total). Nearly 6,000 new CDS accounts opened in the state this year.
Investor education: Bursa flagged a surge in scams with 2,000+ cases in Q1 2025. Financial literacy efforts, including the Sens-Ability programme, are being expanded.
New Offerings:
To attract diverse investor segments, Bursa has rolled out products like BR Capital, Bursa Gold Dinar, and MyBursa, while encouraging smarter, safer financial decisions.
CEO Datuk Fad'l Mohamed said the achievement reflects “the resilience of Malaysia’s capital market and growing trust in Bursa as a long-term investment platform.”
