Atlan Holdings Bhd announced that its subsidiaries, Cergasjaya Sdn Bhd and Cergasjaya Properties Sdn Bhd (CPPA), have received compulsory land acquisition notices for a road construction project in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah. The acquisition is part of a plan to connect the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex to the CIQ Sadao facility in Thailand.
Atlan owns Cergasjaya and CPPA through its 75.53%-owned subsidiary, Duty Free International Ltd (DFI), listed on the Singapore Exchange. Cergasjaya operates the Duty-Free Complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam, while CPPA holds the lease for three plots of land from the Kedah State Development Corporation.
The acquisition, administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Director General of Lands and Mines, Kedah, will lead to the closure of Cergasjaya’s duty-free business, which contributes 24% of DFI's revenue.
The compensation process is ongoing, and DFI is working with legal advisors to ensure fair compensation. The financial impact will be announced once the compensation is finalized.
Atlan's shares closed unchanged at RM2.63, with a market capitalization of RM667.1 million.
