BlackBerry Ltd has announced that Cyberjaya, located in the state of Selangor, will serve as the company’s headquarters for its cyber security operations in the Asia Pacific (Apac), according to a press release on Monday.
The regional hub is already operational, marking a significant milestone in BlackBerry’s Apac strategy, positioning the company near emerging technology hubs and vital government infrastructure.
“Malaysia is a strategically important market for BlackBerry, and we’re proud to base our new Apac headquarters in Kuala Lumpur as part of our regional expansion plans,” said Tash Stamatelos, BlackBerry’s vice president of cybersecurity for Apac.
This expansion builds on BlackBerry’s landmark partnership with the Malaysian government, announced in November 2023. As part of this partnership, BlackBerry collaborated with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to establish the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCOE), which serves as a world-class training center for Malaysia’s cyber security professionals.
The new Cyberjaya office includes a diverse team of professionals spanning sales, marketing, threat research, technical support, administration, and cyber security training. This initiative is expected to not only benefit Malaysia but also provide the broader region with access to BlackBerry’s cutting-edge cyber security solutions, according to Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
