The Singaporean government has ordered the blocking of 10 fake websites linked to foreign actors that could potentially be used to conduct hostile information campaigns against the city-state. These sites posed as legitimate Singapore-based websites, utilizing familiar local features to deceive users, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Infocomm Media Development Authority.
The authorities warned that such websites have been used by malicious foreign entities in other countries to spread false narratives aimed at influencing public sentiment for their own interests. Many of the blocked sites are connected to networks flagged by global cyber threat researchers for conducting similar campaigns elsewhere.
This action is part of Singapore's broader efforts to protect itself from cybersecurity threats and disinformation.
