Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Higher On Bargain Hunting Ahead Of BNM Rate Decision

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Wednesday on bargain hunting following the recent sell-off, ahead of Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) overnight policy rate (OPR) decision on Thursday. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 8.20 points 1,708.74, compared with Tuesday’s close of 1,700.54. The benchmark index opened 0.42 of a point better at 1,700.96 and fluctuated between 1,695.89 and 1,709.71 throughout the day. On the broader market, losers trounced gainers 746 to 424, while 554 counters were unchanged, 1,048 untraded and 17 suspended. Turnover declined to 4.20 billion units valued at RM3.52 billion from 5.52 billion units valued at RM4.42  billion on Tuesday.

Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Flat As Market Awaits Earnings For Direction

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended marginally lower on Monday as investors awaited further corporate earnings results for clearer market direction, an analyst said. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.15 of a point to 1,736.33 from last Friday’s close of 1,736.48. The benchmark index opened 1.83 points higher at 1,738.31, and fluctuated between 1,733.07 and 1,739.47 throughout the day. On the broader market, losers trounced gainers 714 to 482, while 539 counters were unchanged, 1,139 untraded and 46 suspended. Turnover decreased to 3.60 billion units valued at RM3.03 billion from 3.91 billion units valued at RM3.32 billion last Friday.

Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Flat On Renewed Global Bond Yields, Geopolitical Concerns

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended little changed on Friday, as investors remained cautious amid renewed pressure on global bond yields and geopolitical tensions, an analyst said. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.23 points to 1,736.48 compared with Thursday’s close of 1,736.71. The benchmark index opened 0.63 of a point lower at 1,736.08, and fluctuated between 1,733.13 and 1,738.30 throughout the day. On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers 637 to 578, while 571 counters were unchanged, 1,086 untraded and 47 suspended. Turnover decreased to 3.91 billion units valued at RM3.32 billion from 4.28 billion units valued at RM4.01 billion on Thursday.

Market Daily Report: Bursa Malaysia Ends Higher As Easing US Treasury Yields Boost Risk Appetite

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Thursday as easing US Treasury yields improved risk appetite following the US Treasury’s announcement of increased buyback operations, an analyst said. At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 5.39 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 1,736.71 compared with Wednesday’s close of 1,731.32. The benchmark index opened 0.79 of a point higher at 1,732.11, and fluctuated between 1,732.11 and 1,739.13 throughout the day. On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers 610 to 577, while 610 counters were unchanged, 1,075 untraded and 16 suspended. Turnover increased to 4.28 billion units valued at RM4.01 billion from 3.31 billion units valued at RM2.92 billion on Wednesday.   IPPFA Sdn Bhd director of investment strategy and country economist Mohd Sedek Jantan said lower yields helped ease pressure on growth stocks, with technology counters benefitting from renewed investor interest.
