Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports to China are expected to drop to 36.5 million barrels in December, marking the lowest supply since July due to weak demand from China, the world’s largest importer. This decline follows reduced imports of 37.5 million barrels in November and 46 million barrels in October.
China’s state oil companies—Sinopec, PetroChina, and Sinochem—are set to lower their crude intake, as refining throughput declines in the last quarter amid sluggish margins and weak fuel demand. In response, Saudi Aramco cut its official December selling prices for Asia.
In the first nine months of 2024, Saudi crude exports to China fell 10.8% to 1.58 million barrels per day, with Russia overtaking Saudi Arabia as China’s top supplier.
